  • The door closes and Marcus drops into his chair perplexed off the syllogy of this young man. He is not a bad kid at all and yet this kid has learned and perfectly exercised some discerning ideals. He writes on his shared document with Principal Den; Mr. Sebastian Clarke seems remorseful on how he acted with the young lady. He sees the error of his actions and understands that his words have consequences. I will follow up with him to ensure that our conversation today resonated and is being put into action. He then clicks, Save and Sign off.

“ Don’t be in the hallway, please don’t be in the halls.” Marcus walks at a brisk pace through the doors of Vermouth High to avoid another lecture from Principal Den on his tardiness. His gaze shifts to a crowd of students. “Stop, let me through...Make way, before I give everyone detention,” Marcus yells as he pushes himself through the sea of bodies. “ Stop, I said”  He pulls them apart. “ I said stop... in my office now,” He instructs fiercely staring them down, “ And for the rest of you, go to class now.” The crowd quickly dissipate, Marcus walks towards his office and from the hallway can still hear the boys loudly arguing.

Separated, they walk and gaze through the paintings and sculptures with admiration, except for one. Marc has never understood nor could he appreciate art. His mind has always been numbers. He sees beauty in algorithms and mathematical formulas.The Sistine Chapel is just a church with drawings of people that do not quite look like people to him. Now, he must be able to share his opinions on pieces that he does not comprehend.

Shae hangs up first and Marc lays there in bed stuck with his mind running amok. “James is going to be so pissed...I told her that I thought Niki was rude...Is Niki going to like me? Is there a dress code to this event? I should dress nice, It’s an art show in the city. I didn't  ask how much the entry fee. What time is it? It’s 3 am...I’ll wait a few hours and call James.” Marc settles himself and closes his eyes allowing the sleep to sink in. That same morning the girls wake up energized and ready to tackle the day. Niki especially with fire in her eyes. She is determined to create the show of her life. The show that would put her on the map and be seen.
